Living in Oak Pointe, Brighton

Oct. 09, 2026 | Written by: Ashley Provenzola

Oak Pointe is the name many people think of first when they picture golf-course living in Brighton. It's an established community wrapped around two championship courses, with lake access on Crooked Lake. I live just down the road in South Lyon, and here's my guide, including the one thing buyers most often mix up.

Where Oak Pointe is

Oak Pointe is in Genoa Charter Township, Livingston County, with Brighton (48116) addresses. It's built around Oak Pointe Country Club at 4500 Club Drive, and parts of the community sit on Crooked Lake. Downtown Brighton, I-96, and US-23 are all a short drive away.

Listings I've reviewed in Oak Pointe show Brighton Area Schools. Because Genoa Township is served by more than one district, confirm the school assignment for any specific address.

The homes

Oak Pointe is a mature neighborhood. The single-family listings I've reviewed were mostly built between 1988 and 1994, including two-story colonials. The community is made up of several sections, such as Oak Pointe North, along with condominium communities including Pine Eagle, Glen Eagles, Fairways at Oak Pointe, and the Villas of Oak Pointe. That gives you a choice between a single-family home and a lower-maintenance condo near the golf course. I couldn't confirm a total home count for the whole area, so I've left that out.

Amenities and what's nearby

Here's the mix-up I mentioned: the country club and the neighborhood are separate. Oak Pointe Country Club, established in 1977, is a membership club. It has two 18-hole courses, the Championship course and the Arthur Hills-designed Honors course, plus swimming pools, a fitness center, tennis, and dining. Owning a home in Oak Pointe does not automatically make you a member, so ask the club directly about membership if golf is part of your plan.

Separately from the club, recent listings describe neighborhood amenities such as a private beach and boat access on Crooked Lake and tennis courts. Access can depend on which association a home belongs to, so we'd confirm what comes with a particular house.

For everything else, downtown Brighton's restaurants, Mill Pond, and events are close, and so are Brighton's big state recreation areas. See my Brighton community guide for more.

HOA and key rules

Oak Pointe isn't one single association. Single-family sections, condominium communities, and a marina association each have their own governing documents. I didn't find an official website for the single-family homeowners association. A similarly named Oak Pointe HOA website online belongs to a community in Florida, not Brighton. So the best way to learn the rules for a specific home is to request the documents for that home's association during your purchase. That's something I'll handle for you.

When you review them, look at:

  • Which association the home belongs to, and whether there's more than one.
  • Lake, beach, and dock access rules.
  • Architectural approval for exterior changes, fences, and additions.

HOA rules and fees change; always review the current governing documents and verify school assignment with the district.
