Road & Construction Updates
- Brighton Road, Chilson Road to King Road (Genoa Township), Oct. 19-23: Road rehabilitation by the Livingston County Road Commission. The road stays open, but expect one-lane, flag-controlled traffic and delays.
- W. Eight Mile Road, Whitmore Lake Road to Hall Road: A weeklong rehab was scheduled to begin Tuesday, Oct. 13. Traffic is eastbound only under flag control, so westbound drivers should use another route.
- CSX crossing at N. Fourth and Walnut Streets: Repairs that had been planned for early October are postponed until further notice.
- I-96/US-23: MDOT's nighttime paving closures near US-23 and Kensington Road wrapped up Oct. 9.
School Happenings
Brighton Area Schools bond on the Nov. 3 ballot. Voters will decide on a $90.2 million bond focused on safety and security, infrastructure, and learning spaces. The district says it would not raise the tax rate, which it projects will drop from 2.92 to 2.73 mills in 2027. It follows a larger proposal that voters turned down in May. You can find the details on the district's bond information page.
Coming up: Quarter 1 ends Oct. 30 for grades 7-12, and there's no school for students on Nov. 3.
