Living in High Hills Arbor, Brighton
Oct. 09, 2026 | Written by: Ashley ProvenzolaHigh Hills Arbor is one of the Brighton area's active new-construction neighborhoods. It has wooded, rolling lots of half an acre or more, Brighton schools, and quick access to US-23. I live just down the road in South Lyon, and here's my guide for buyers thinking about building or buying new.
Where High Hills Arbor is
High Hills Arbor is in Green Oak Charter Township, Livingston County, with Brighton (48116) addresses. The model home is at 9510 Chalfonte Drive. The builder describes the location as about two minutes from US-23 (exit 55), about five minutes from the US-23/I-96 interchange, minutes from downtown Brighton, and about 12 minutes north of Ann Arbor. That makes it handy if you commute in more than one direction.
The community is in Brighton Area Schools. The builder lists Hawkins Elementary, Maltby Intermediate, Scranton Middle School, and Brighton High School. Confirm the assignment for any specific address.
The homes
High Hills Arbor has 100 homesites, each half an acre or larger, on wooded, rolling land. It's being built by Mitch Harris Building Company, a Brighton-based builder, and was still selling new homes in fall 2026. Buyers can choose from more than 20 floor plans, including ranches, 1.5-story, and two-story homes, mostly with three or four bedrooms. A few quick-move-in homes are usually available too. The community sets minimum home sizes: 1,900 square feet for ranches and 2,200 square feet for 1.5- and 2-story homes.
The builder's standard features include 2x6 exterior walls, stone or brick on the front, attached two- or three-car garages (per plan), and central air. Homes use Green Oak Township water and individual septic systems. That's worth understanding if you've only had city sewer before, and I'm happy to walk you through it.
Amenities and what's nearby
This neighborhood's amenities are mostly outside the subdivision. The builder points to the Legacy Center and Huron Meadows Metropark, which has trails, fishing on the Huron River, and a golf course. Island Lake Recreation Area, Green Oak's shopping, and downtown Brighton are all close by. For more about the area, see my Brighton community guide.
HOA and key rules
High Hills Arbor has a homeowners association with annual dues. For now, several approvals go through the developer. I didn't find a separate HOA website or publicly posted bylaws, so these points come from the builder's published community details:
- Fences are allowed with developer approval.
- Outbuildings, like sheds, are allowed with developer approval.
- Minimum square footage applies to every home (see above).
If you're buying new here, I'll help you get the recorded restrictions and HOA documents. We'll also compare the builder's purchase agreement against what you're expecting, before you sign.
